Alliance for Colorado Health Care
For over a year now, various non-profit organizations advocating for universal health care in Colorado have been working together. Alliance for Colorado Health Care is an umbrella organization (not a legal entity) that brings those non-profits together to work most effectively. A bill was entered into the Colorado legislature in January of 2024 that would have commissioned the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) to produce an analysis of what a publicly financed and privately delivered health care system (commonly called a single-payer health care system) could look like in Colorado. The bill was HB24-1075, “Analysis of Universal Health-Care Payment System”. You can read the bill at the following link.

The bill was stopped for the 2nd year in a row in the Colorado Senate. Read Paula Noonan’s opinion piece in Colorado Politics on how this happened. Click this link to read the article. (Hopefully this is no longer behind a pay wall.)
Alliance for Colorado Health Care is currently assessing out options for moving forward towards universal health care in Colorado.
A previous study by CSPH showed that a single-payer system in Colorado would cover everyone and reduce the total cost of health care to Coloradans by $1 billion to $4 billion the first year.
If you support this approach of getting more information about how we can create a much better health care system in Colorado, please email us at info@cohccoalition.org and let your legislators know that you support universal health care, where everyone can get the health care they need regardless of how much money they have!
